GroundRoster is an independent informational directory compiled from official state and county licensing records. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to any government agency, nor to any other similarly named website or business. By using this site you agree to these terms; if you do not agree, do not use the site.

The directory is information, not a recommendation

Listings reproduce professional licensing records published by state and county authorities. Records change, and errors and gaps occur. Everything on this site is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranty of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that any listing is accurate, complete, or current. Always verify a license directly with the official source linked on each profile before hiring anyone. Content on this site, including guides, is general information, not professional, engineering, health, or legal advice.

Lists of businesses near you are based on an estimate of your location (from your internet connection, or from your device if you share it) and on the location each listing gives. The estimate can be miles off, and a business shown near you may not serve your address. Claimed Listings, which are paid, can appear ahead of standard listings, including in the list of businesses near you.

We are a directory, not a broker or agent. We do not vet, endorse, or recommend any listed business, we take no commission on any job, and we are not a party to any transaction between you and a well and septic professional. Any work you hire out is solely between you and the business you hire. We are not responsible for a listed business's work, licensing status, insurance, pricing, or conduct. Quote requests are sent on as described in the privacy policy; we do not guarantee a response.

Confirming or claiming a listing

Confirming your listing details is free; a Claimed Listing, described next, is paid. By submitting a claim, a confirmation or any content (business name, contact details, description, write-up), you confirm you are authorized to act for that business and that what you submit is truthful and lawful, and you grant us permission to display it. We may edit, decline, or remove submitted content, or any listing, at our discretion. The license badge comes with a Claimed Listing and may be embedded only by that business on its own website, for its own listing, and must link back to it.

A confirmed claim comes with a private manage link. Anyone who has the link can make the changes its page offers, so keep it private; if it gets out, tell us and we will replace it. We may revoke or replace a manage link at any time. A service distance or description you set is your own statement and is shown as one; we do not check it, and you are responsible for keeping it accurate.

Claimed Listings

A Claimed Listing costs $49 a month or $490 a year, billed by Stripe. It renews automatically at the end of each billing period until canceled. The two plans differ only in price and billing period; each plan's billing terms are below.

A Claimed Listing is the same on either plan. While it is active, your listing shows its phone, email and website, your own text, and the nearby towns you say you serve; a card for it sits at the top of its city's page (or its county's page, for a listing with no city); and in nearby-listing results within 150 miles of it, such as a ZIP code search, it shows before standard listings. Claimed Listings appear ahead of standard listings in GroundRoster results. Verified means the business verified this listing with GroundRoster; the license itself is checked against the issuing agency's records. It also receives, by email and at no extra charge, the quote requests homeowners send through this site from its state, within its service distance (50 miles until you set one), for its kind of work, except requests a homeowner sends from another Claimed Listing's own page or card. Distance is measured from the listing's location to the homeowner's ZIP code, or to their city if they give no ZIP code in its state; where either can't be placed, it receives only requests from its own city. A listing with no email address on record receives none until it gives us one. Any number of businesses in a city or county can have a Claimed Listing at the same time, so a quote request can go to several. When a Claimed Listing ends, its contact details and text leave public view and quote requests stop.

A Claimed Listing buys screen position, display, and the quote requests described above, nothing more. We do not guarantee leads, calls, jobs, revenue, or search-engine ranking, nor the number, quality, or accuracy of quote requests; homeowners write their own, and we do not check them. Use a quote request only to respond to that homeowner about that work, and follow the laws that apply to calls, texts, and email. If we end your Claimed Listing for any reason other than your breach of these terms, we will refund the unused portion of what you prepaid, and that refund is the entire remedy.

Claimed Listing, Monthly

Claimed Listing, Monthly: $49 a month, billed by Stripe. It renews automatically at the end of each month until canceled. Cancel anytime from the cancel form on your listing's manage page or by email to hello@groundroster.com. Canceling stops the renewal: the Claimed Listing stays active until the end of the month already paid for, then ends, and you are not charged again. When you cancel, payments already made are not refunded, and partial months are not refunded. If we end your Claimed Listing ourselves, for any reason other than your breach of these terms, we refund the unused portion of what you prepaid, as the Claimed Listing terms describe. If a renewal payment has failed and is still unpaid when you cancel, the Claimed Listing ends at once and we stop trying to collect that payment.

Claimed Listing, Annual

Claimed Listing, Annual: $490 a year, billed by Stripe. It renews automatically at the end of each year until canceled. Cancel anytime from the cancel form on your listing's manage page or by email to hello@groundroster.com. Canceling stops the renewal: the Claimed Listing stays active until the end of the year already paid for, then ends, and you are not charged again. When you cancel, payments already made are not refunded, and partial years are not refunded. If we end your Claimed Listing ourselves, for any reason other than your breach of these terms, we refund the unused portion of what you prepaid, as the Claimed Listing terms describe. If a renewal payment has failed and is still unpaid when you cancel, the Claimed Listing ends at once and we stop trying to collect that payment.

These terms also apply to any other paid feature we may offer, except job requests, which are covered below.

Job requests

A job request is a property owner's request for work, passed along as the owner wrote it. Buying one gets you the owner's name, contact details and full request by email, nothing more. We don't check what owners write, and we do not guarantee that a request is accurate, complete or genuine, that the owner will respond, or that you will get the job. We may sell each request to more than one business, with no set limit.

If the job had already been filled or canceled before you bought it, email us at hello@groundroster.com within 7 days of receiving the details; once the owner confirms it, we refund your payment in full. That refund is the entire remedy. A job the owner gives to another business after you bought it is not covered. Otherwise, all sales are final. Use the details only to contact that owner about that job, and follow the laws on calls, texts and email.

Acceptable use

You may not scrape, bulk-download, or republish the directory, misrepresent your identity or business, or use the site for anything unlawful. We may block or refuse service to anyone who does.

Copyright complaints

If you believe content on this site infringes your copyright, send the page URL, the work you say is infringed, and your contact details to hello@groundroster.com. We remove or disable content in response to valid notices, and we end the claimed-listing privileges of repeat infringers.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the operator of this site (its owner and anyone working on it) is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss arising from work performed by, or any dispute with, a listed business. Total liability for all claims combined is capped at the greater of $100 or the amounts you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose. If you are dissatisfied with the site, your remedy is to stop using it and, for subscribers, to cancel.

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless the operator of this site (its owner and anyone working on it) from claims, damages, and expenses, including reasonable attorneys' fees, arising from content you submit, your use of the site, or your violation of these terms.

Disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York. Before filing any claim, you agree to describe the dispute in writing to hello@groundroster.com and allow 60 days to resolve it. Any claim not resolved that way must be brought in small claims court or by binding arbitration under the American Arbitration Association's consumer rules. Claims may be brought individually only, not as a class or representative action, and must be brought within one year of when the claim arose. If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect.

General

These terms are the entire agreement between you and the operator of this site about your use of the site, and they supersede any prior discussions or understandings. A failure to enforce any provision is not a waiver of it. You may not assign or transfer your rights under these terms; we may assign ours, including as part of a sale or reorganization of the site. We are not liable for any delay or failure caused by events beyond our reasonable control. The disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnification, and dispute provisions survive any termination of these terms or your use of the site.

Changes

We may add, modify, suspend, or discontinue any feature or listing, or the site itself, at any time without notice. If we discontinue Claimed Listings, the refund of the unused prepaid portion described under Claimed Listings is the sole remedy. We may update these terms; the current version always lives at this page, and continued use of the site after a change is acceptance of it. Questions: email hello@groundroster.com.
