The license badge

The license badge comes with a Claimed Listing on GroundRoster: a business with one can put this badge on its own website. It shows the license the way the licensing record gives it, and it links to the business's listing here, where a customer can read the full record and follow the link to the issuing agency's own lookup.

Example Well Drilling TX license #00000 · Active Checked against TDLR records as of 2026-11-05 · GroundRoster

Example only: not a real business.

What it shows

What it doesn't mean

The badge is not an endorsement, a rating, or a recommendation, and we don't vet anyone's work. It says what the licensing record said when we last checked it. Our copy can lag the issuing agency, so for anything that matters, follow the badge to the listing and the listing to the agency.

When it changes

The badge follows our copy of the licensing roster, which we refresh from the issuing agency periodically. A change to our copy can take up to about an hour to reach the badge. It carries a check mark only while the status on the record reads as good standing and the license's own expiry date, where the roster gives one, hasn't passed. Some rosters stamp one renewal-cycle date on every license; that date doesn't count against the badge. Without the check mark, the badge turns gray and shows the status as the record gives it, "no status listed", or "check with state". If the license leaves the roster, we stop serving the badge after our next refresh, and the image on your site stops loading.

Who can use it

Only a business with a Claimed Listing, on its own website, for its own listing, linked back to that listing. If the Claimed Listing ends, we stop serving the badge within about an hour, and the image on your site stops loading. See the Terms.

How to get it

See what a Claimed Listing includes and how to get one. Once your listing is confirmed as your business, you get a private manage link; with a Claimed Listing, your manage page shows the snippet, with a Copy snippet button that copies it in one click, to paste into your site.
